I saw a silver chalkboard tray on etsy a while back and said “I can make those!” Thanks to a quick trip to a local antique mall and a visit with my in-laws, I collected 5 silver trays for this project.
We gave each tray a couple coats of brown chalkboard paint using a brush and just painting slowly around the edges (you could also use chalkboard spraypaint). We used gorilla glue to attach a picture hanger on the back of each tray and VOILA! Instant wall art for our nursury.
When our baby girl is older, these will be perfect for drawing little cakes on for a pretend “tea party”
Check out Phillips Phamily Phive or Gypsy Brocante for more detailed pictures of the process
EXTENTION: here are a few different ideas...
Black Flipflops used a "silver" tray from a local dollar store and added embelishments around the edge. I also like the painted clothes pin to hold the peice of chalk
Vintage Junk in my Trunk went XL and used this silver tray to help identify dips
Beauty and Bedlum also painted the rim around the tray for a little bit different look
