I strive to provide Aliyah with new experiences, building her creativity and exploring the arts. So you could image my excitement when I was given the opportunity to review an all natural and organic finger paint by the eco friendly company
Wee Can Too.

ALL of the products made by
Wee Can Too are edible (vegan, wheat & dairy free), making them completely safe for anyone to use - especially those sweet little babies that put everything in their mouth! The products are fruit and vegetable based which makes them also free from food coloring and dyes. All these reasons earned them the Dr. Toy's Green Product Award in 2011.

I love that these paints have a bit of texture to them providing great tactile stimulation for infants and kiddos with special needs (i.e. children with autism or other developmental delays).

crayons are easy for little hands to hold |
Wee Can Too was started by a think-out-of-the-box mama who couldn't find a non-toxic/dye free finger paint for her artistic infant. She started to make these paints in her home for friends, and it quickly became very popular. Turns out other moms are looking for a safe way to explore art with their babies! She has now teamed up with another mama (local to the KC area) to help get the word out to families looking for a 100% safe and natural way to create art together.

waiting for a warm day to try this swirl chalk |
Sunday was a bit chilly and gray so we decided it would be a perfect day to throw down a sheet and try out Aliyah's finger paints. There are 5 colors to choose from: Aliyah used the orange, pink and purple. We all had SO SO SO much fun with the paints!
Paper works just fine with these paints, but we fancied it up by grabbing two blank canvas for Aliyah to paint. All three of us were laughing as we tried to figure out the best way to get the paint on the canvas.
Just add water (then stick them in your fridge when you are finished)
First, we used little plates to put each color on allowing Aliyah to pick a color and paint - this would probably work better with toddlers although Aliyah thought is was fun.
Next, we put a little paint all over her canvas so she could smear the paint around without the extra plates in her way. This worked wonderfully!
Her daddy and I think her paintings are gorgeous... and our goal was accomplished: We had a super fun time together. The best part was that we never had to pull Aliyah's paint covered hands from her mouth or tell her over and over "no". We just laughed and watch Aliyah make a huge mess.
We brought Aliyah's bath bucket down to the kitchen and let her have an afternoon bath right in the middle of the kitchen floor. Everything was tossed into the wash and it all came out clean.

Thanks for posting. I got on right away and ordered the paints and crayons. My Brady puts everything in his mouth so I've been a little hesitant, but these are perfect!!! I'm so excited to get them and try them out. Genius!!
ReplyDeleteHow long is it safe to keep the reconstituted paint in the fridge?
ReplyDeleteThe back of the bottle recommends that once you add the water, it should last in the fridge for about a month!
ReplyDeletePerfect! Thanks, I bought the powders to mix my own, and that info wasn't on there. We had fun on Sunday with them, although Ethan wanted his fingers wiped off between colors. Silly boy!
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel, If you received the powder kind you can mix powders for different sessions as made to paint and the paint doesn't need to be refridgerated as you will use the amount thats necesary for that session! Hope this helps...Nichole at Vanny Bean
